Saying ‘Thank you’ to Cookie Customers

Image
Saying ‘Thank you’ to Cookie Customers There's more to Girl Scout Cookies than what is in the cookie package! When your Girl Scout sells Girl Scout Cookies , they’re learning skills which can be used in business and in everyday life. Whether she is interacting with past customers or new ones, make sure she practices good customer service! For example, when a Girl Scout says “thank you” to her cookie customers, she is learning about business ethics , communication skills , and how to be professional and polite. Saying thank you is so important! By saying thank you, you show how much you value them helping you reach your goals. Here are some unique ways that our Girl Scouts say thank you to their cookie customers. Sarah from troop 2232 and Emily from troop 2531 show their neighbors, family, and friends that they appreciate their support during cookie season by placing fulfilled orders in a hand crafted paper bag that includes a thank you note and a business card. ...

Different Ways to "Bling Your Booth" and Stay Within Your Booth Sale Location’s Guidelines

Image
Different Ways to "Bling Your Booth" and Stay Within Your Booth Sale Location’s Guidelines Today (January 31, 2020) is the official start of Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sales here in Nassau County! One of the fun things for your Girl Scouts to do during booth sale season is to “Bling your Booth.” But, how can you “Bling Your Booth” when your booth sale location has guidelines. Try some of these ideas: Girl Scouts can set up the cookie packages and cases in a fun, decorative way.  Have each of the Girl Scouts in your troop come up with a unique "elevator" pitch. Then let the girls take turns trying out their “elevator” pitch on customers. This gives each girl the opportunity to practice their marketing and people skills while at the booth sale.  Make sure their vests/sashes are Girl Scout Cookie Season ready. The GSNC Shop even has a patch for that! When you go into the GSNC Shop for a uniform checkup, you will receive a free patch with you...

Go For Bold this Cookie Season!

All that glitters is BOLD! As we celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting in Nassau County, we also celebrate all of the bold and beautiful things our girls, troops, and council are able to do – powered by the Girl Scout Cookie Program. This Entrepreneurial Program, fitting the Girl Scout Leadership Experience model of learning by doing, isn’t just money earning – it’s skill building. Girls learn the five skills of goal setting, decision making, people skills, money management, and business ethics.   Here’s what one GSNC parent had to say about her daughter’s experience in response to our 2018 end of season survey:   "It was my daughter’s first year in Girl Scouts and I felt that she learned a lot about how to sell cookies and how to always greet a person with a smile. She also learned some math as a kindergartener, counting and returning proper change with the supervision of an adult. Overall, it was a good experience for her to know the value of a dollar and how to...

Powered by the Girl Scout Cookie Program: Accomplishing BIG GOALS

Image
“Last cookie season I earned the 4,000 box reward, a trip to Savannah, Georgia. I went over the summer with my mother and had a lot of fun. While there, I visited the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, the Gingerbread House, the Savannah Botanical Gardens and all 22 Squares in Savannah. I learned many new facts there too like, Savannah is one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. I had a great time and would love to go back!” - Isabella I. Troop 2185 Isabella has been GSNC’s top seller for 4 years in a row and she’s already set her goal so she can earn the top reward again this year—a trip to Niagara Falls! Will you be joining her? It takes a lot of effort to sell so many boxes of Cookies , but Isabella is a real entrepreneurial G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker and Leader)TM. In 2017 she worked hard with her Leader and Troop Cookie Manager to not only reach her own goals, but to support the Five Skills (Goal Setting, Decision Making, People Skills, Money Management an...

Tricks of the Girl Scout Cookie Selling Trade

Image
By: Isabella I, Troop 2185 Every year, I sell a lot of Girl Scout Cookies . The number one question I get is “how”? First, I look at the number of Cookies I sold the previous year. Then I add to that number, and that creates my goal. During Cookie season I dedicate all my free time to selling. I wear Cookie costumes. They aren’t only a cute sales tactic, but an extra layer of warmth. I ask everyone that passes if they would like to buy Cookies or make a donation. Selling takes a lot of dedication and perseverance not only because of the freezing temperatures, but because a lot of people say “no” when they are asked. Being able to accept rejection is a skill that I have learned through the Cookie Program. Another skill I have become a pro at is staying warm in freezing temperatures. Now some of the secrets to Cookie selling have been uncovered! While selling Cookies is hard work, it really pays off in the end. This year, I earned a trip, with my mom, to Washington D.C. We went t...

Are You Man Enough to be a Girl Scout?

Men Volunteer Their Time to Help Their Daughters Get the Girl Scout   Experience In honor of Father’s Day, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) are commending the fathers who make being a Girl Scout possible and invite other Dads to step up to the challenge. Our male Troop Leaders, council members, Cookie Dads and behind-the-scenes volunteers are crucial to the success of each Girl Scout experience. The organization creates openings for fathers to be a part of their daughter’s lives and strengthen their relationships with one another through participation in numerous activities. We encourage fathers to be involved and on this holiday, thank the unsung heroes who load the camping gear into the truck, build “bridges” for our bridging ceremonies and lend a hand when needed . The Girl Scouts of Nassau County considers itself lucky to know numerous fathers interested in volunteering their time to contribute to their daughter’s, and other Girl Scout’s, experiences. These incl...
