Family Activity Ideas for the Holiday Break

Holiday Activities... The Christmas to New Year's break from school is filled with excitement for Santa and sharing our own holiday traditions; a change in pace away from school and the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. In case a Girl Scout family is feeling at loose-ends after a few days of togetherness, here are a few suggestions of things to do for service and fun... ·          Do something for others.   Call an elderly neighbor… Put out some seed and/or suet for the birds... Write a letter to friend far away... Let your children offer their input on your family's end of year charitable donations. ·          Clean out the closet or the toy chest. 2013 Girls Go The Distance Walkathon and Activity Fair Patch Contest

The excitement builds for the 2013 Girls Go The Distance Walkathon and Activity Fair as the Winners of the Girls Go The Distance Patch Contest are presented their Patch!  GSNC Walkathon Patch Contest Winners Last Friday, I had the pleasure of presenting the winners of the Girls Go The Distance patch design contest, with their commemorative patch.  Mikayla B from Senior Troop 3077 and Katherine P from Junior Troop 3006 and their families joined me at the GSNC Service Center to be the first to receive the 2013 Girls Go The Distance Walkthon Participation Patch.  The patch, designed with the 6 Girl Scout level colors, was a combination of two different patch designs, refined into one patch. The patch features 6 girls in the 6 different colors walking and running over green hills with a bright sun in the background.
