 Listen in to our New Year Fun and World Thinking Day Volunteer Connections Podcast Episode! While the Girl Scout Cookie Season may be the main focus for your Girl Scout troop right now, we wanted to give you other troop activities perfect for this time of year that you can use to switch things up!  During our January Volunteer Connections podcast episode we’ll discuss new year themed troop games, conversation starters, how Girl Scouts can reflect on their accomplishments, and a special Girl Scout day, World Thinking Day (WTD). You’ll find that all of the New Year games are easy to plan, include low cost materials, and will remind girls it’s okay to be silly and do something fun to celebrate something exciting like the start of 2023. Daisies and Brownies will get up and moving, so you’ll have no problem getting their energy out! World Thinking Day 2019

Celebrate our Centennial by traveling through time and taking part in World Thinking Day! World Thinking Day dates back to 1926, when delegates from all over the world met at Camp Edith Macy in Briarcliff Manor, New York. At this meeting, it was decided that February 22 would be known as a special international day of friendship for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from all walks of life. Every year since, World Thinking Day has called for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides to join together to take discuss issues that affect young women and take part in activities that promote changing the world for the better. ON FEBRUARY 22 of each year, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from 146 countries celebrate World Thinking Day (WTD)— that’s one BIG celebration! World Thinking Day 2015

Every year, on February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all over the world celebrate World Thinking Day.  We honor our sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts by taking the time to think about and give thanks for our international friends and to remember that Girl Scouts of Nassau County isn’t the only group of Girl Scouts out there; that we are part of a larger community of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. World Thinking Day 2014

When I “think” about World Thinking Day for Girl Scouts, it is kind of   overwhelming. How can you think about all the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all over the world? I have some great touchstones when I think of World Thinking Day because of the wonderful volunteers and girls who have given Girl Scouts of Nassau County an international experience over the years … “Mama” Edith Katz, Nancy LeGloach, and Nina Pesci for many years served as the hosts for literally hundreds of girls over dozens of years who came from around the world to participate in international opportunities and events.   The girls would enter thru various NY airports and Mrs. Katz, Mrs. LeGloach and Mrs. Pesci were in charge of matching them with Girl Scout families in Nassau who opened their homes to these young travelers for their first few days in the USA, send them off to their GSUSA assignments, and then welcomed them back at the end of their journeys for a few more days of fun and celebratio...
