Informal ways to thank your Girl Scout Leader!

Adult volunteers make Girl Scouting happen! Our adult volunteers help Girl Scouts unleash their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader) and make events possible for all Girl Scouts. Acknowledging the efforts of others is an essential part of Girl Scouts. Acknowledgements can be informal and initiated by the girls, parents, co-leaders and Service Units. Some ideas may include: Recognition Certificate - A certificate may be given to a volunteer at a Service Unit Meeting in recognition of her/his interest in and support of Girl Scouts. Handicrafts - A mobile, flower arrangement, special ceramic plaque, scrapbook, sampler, poster, decoupage, ornament, bookmark, etc. Written Thank You - Send a brief note, poem, letter, special occasion card, scroll signed by members of the group, autograph book with signatures and comments, framed pictures of girls, or a yard sign with message “A Great Girl Scout Leader Lives Here.” Adult Recognitions Nomination - Ano...

Dear Girl Scout Volunteer; Without you, a GSNC Volunteer, the lives of many girls in our community would be missing a vital connection. Their connection to one another, to their community, to their current friends and friends they have yet to make, and their connection to you. Because you do what you do as a Mom, Dad, Aunt, Grandparent, Friend and Girl Scout Volunteer, girls’ lives are impacted in the most positive way. Every badge or award, every event, every Girl Scout meeting, every recitation of the Promise & Law, every little thing you do…makes a positive impact that is priceless to the girls you lead and support.  So…. Because The Girl By Mimi Murray, a GSUSA National Operational Volunteer Because the girl has a need, we have an obligation. Because the girl has a choice, we must be her better choice. Because the girl has high expectations, we must excel. Because the girl wants to explore, we must be her guide. Because the girl wants to bel...

10 Ways to Say “Thanks” to Your Volunteer

As we approach the end of the Girl Scout Troop Season, it is important to say “Thank you” to those volunteers who made all of your Girl Scout adventures possible. Here are a few ideas to get you started: 10 Ways to Say “thanks” to your favorite volunteer Send a thank you card or letter. Nominate them for the GSNC Volunteer of Excellence Award . Send your Leader videos of the girls thanking them.  Make them a S’mores Kit. The tag can read “We need S’more Leaders like you!” Give a plant or flowers.  Post a “thank you” on Facebook, Twitter or in your Association house on the OLC. Make a sign to hang on their door that says “A great volunteer lives here!” (then sign your names) Have a picture taken of the entire Troop for your leader. Bake a cake or cookies.  A gift from the Girl Scout Shop !
