Once a Girl Scout, Always a Girl Scout: Girl Scout Alum Caeley's Story

From the Girl Scout Robotics Program to Aerospace Engineer Who are Girl Scouts? Girl Scouts are go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders. They’re G.I.R.L.S who design robots, learn life skills, improve our neighborhoods and go on amazing adventures. They’re making a difference. Girl Scouts is a lifelong adventure, full of friendship, connection, service, and fun! Congratulations to Our Robotics Team

As always, with much gratitude we thank the coaches and mentors for their dedication and for the example they set for the girls. Because of them, the girls had another wonderful season! Here are the results of our recently completed 2016 – 2017 season: FIRST LEGO League Junior (FLL Jr.) 6-9 years old: The Robotic Rock Stars won the OUTSTANDING TEAMWORK Award at the School Business Partnership of Long Island’s (SBPLI) FLL Jr. EXPO where the girls showcased their LEGO robot design and their research. The Science Superstars will host their own EXPO where they will present their LEGO robot design and research to family & friends. FIRST LEGO League (FLL) 9-14 years old: All of these teams competed in the SBPLI. Inc. FLL Qualifying Tournaments, here the girls showcased their LEGO robot design, their research and invention. Our four FLL teams that competed were the Soaring Rockettes, Tech Time Girls, LEGO Lovelies who won the TEAMWORK Award, and the Smart Cookies who won the STRATEGY ...

With much gratitude, we thank the coaches & mentors for their dedication and for the example they set for the girls. Because of them, the girls had another wonderful season!  Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr. FLL) 6-9 years old: EIGHT teams represented GSNC at the 2/28/15 School Business Partnership of LI’s (SBPLI) Jr. FLL EXPO where the girls showcased their LEGO robot design and their research. LEGOtronettes and The ICEBREAKERS Compete at the East Super-Regional Championship Tournament

CONGRATULATIONS to our two high school FIRST TECH Challenge (FTC) teams, the LEGOtronettes and The ICEBREAKERS who after winning many awards at local tournaments were both eligible to compete on April 3 – 5, 2014 at the East Super-Regional Championship Tournament in York, Pennsylvania. At the East Super-Regional Championship Tournament, The ICEBREAKERS won the Connect Award and are now eligible to compete at the FIRST WORLD Championship in St. Louis, Missouri on April 23 -26, 2014!     We thank all of the girls, coaches and mentors for their hard work, dedication and for the wonderful way they represent Girl Scouts of Nassau County! GSNC Robotics Results

  FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Results Congrats to all of the high school robotics teams from Long Island that competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifier at Syosset High on March 1, 2014. There were two and ½ Girl Scout teams, the Icebreakers and LEGOtronettes, and the Bot Masters who are a Girl Scout/Boy Scout team.  The Icebreakers made it to the Semi-finals for the Alliance Round and they chose LEGOtronettes and The Bot Masters to be part of their Alliance team. The girls & boys showed each other what ‘scouting’ is all about as they competed together! In the end, the Icebreakers won the ‘ Inspire Award’ , and the Bot Masters won the ‘ Motivate Award’ .  The Icebreakers and the LEGOtronettes have both qualified to compete at the 2014 NYU/LI FTC Championship Tournament in NYC.
