Whatever your favorite Girl Scout volunteer’s super power might be, let them know how much you appreciate everything they do! April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and April 22 is Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day! Let’s say “thank you” to those who help make our Girl Scout experience possible! Ways to say “thanks” to your favorite volunteer Write and send a thank you card or letter. Make it extra special by making the card yourself.  Nominate them for the GSNC Volunteer of Excellence Award. Make and send your Leader a video telling her how much you appreciate her being a part of your Girl Scout story. One of the earliest behaviors my parents taught me was to say “please” and “thank you;” continuously reminding myself and my siblings that these were the magic words. After a birthday party, we would write thank you notes to those who came to celebrate with us. On Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, Teacher’s day, and all the other “days” of the year, we would say “thank you” to those who were there for us or supported us by giving cards and homemade gifts. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and April 22 is Leader Appreciation Day which makes it an extra perfect time to say thank you to those Girl Scout volunteers in our lives. Maybe it’s the volunteers who are our cheerleaders, guides, and mentors. Or, that volunteer who helps us build courage, confidence and character. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! Showing appreciation for volunteers is a MUST. After all, our volunteers are ah-mazing and should be reminded of it not just this month, but every month! They do it all for the girls and often work extra hours on top of busy schedules and hectic lives. We love them for it and, well, Girl Scouting wouldn’t be the same without them. Let’s be sure to shout it from the Girl Scout rooftops! We know that everyday little things to show appreciation can go a super-long way. Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day is a day of recognition for adult volunteers in Girl Scouting. Although volunteers are always appreciated, it is during these special days that we take the time to acknowledge that our volunteers are the lifeblood of Girl Scouts of NassauCounty . Our Girl Scout volunteers make an enormous impact on the girls they mentor, motivate, and inspire.  They are the everyday heroes and guides who introduce girls to new life-changing experiences and help them discover their passions.  We encourage the girls, their families and Girl Scout communities to plan special gestures to show appreciation for the Girl Scout volunteers in their lives. As we celebrate Girl Scout Volunteer Week here at Girl Scouts of Nassau County, I can never say it often enough, “Thank You,” to each and every one of our volunteers for all that you do. We know sometimes it’s not quite as fun as it is at other times, but everything you do makes a difference for the girls, even filling out those forms for the end of the year finance report and schlepping all those cookies. Thank you for everything that you do for our girls.
