GSNC Congratulates our Gold Award Girl Scouts

T he 71 young women honored in this year’s Gold Award ceremony make up Nassau County’s most accomplished. As a Council, we are extremely proud of their achievements as Girl Scouts and look forward to what they will do as leaders in the future. Girl Scoutsof Nassau County honored its Gold Award class of 2018 on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center (PAC). The event began with the honorees arriving in their vests and sashes ready for the memorable evening ahead. Excited family members and friends gathered to learn more about the individual projects that made it all possible while viewing the informative display boards created by each Gold Award Girl Scout . The honorees assembled together and posed for an official class photo before the ceremonial events began. When doors opened, GSNC Chief Executive Officer Randell M. My Girl Scout Internship Experience

by Katie Genari My time at Girl Scouts of Nassau County as an intern was less about having an internship for the summer and more about being able to take an opportunity to continue my Girl Scout journey and give back to an organization that had a profound impact on my young adult life. Being able to work as an intern for the summer in the Marketing and Communications Department has allowed me to experience Girl Scouts in a new light and from a different perspective. As a current college student with a Broadcasting Major and Minor in Business Marketing I looked forward to learning about Media and Marketing from a not for profit perspective, a perspective different from what I am studying in school. Coming into the start of my internship, I was unsure of what to expect as there are many tasks and responsibilities that are taken care of each day and week within the Marketing Department. 2013 Year in Review 2013 was such an exciting year for Girl Scouts all over, but especially Girl Scouts of Nassau County. We had so many fun and exciting things happen that it was difficult to narrow all of them down to my TOP TEN… so I didn’t! Here are my Top Moments from 2013… 2013 Cookie Celebration 1. The Cookie Celebration last January at the Crest Hollow Country Club was so much fun! And February 8, 2013 marked the first ever NATIONAL GIRL SCOUT COOKIE DAY! GSNC 100 Anniversary Gala Honorees 2. There are not many jobs where you get to wear a ball gown for work!   On March 12, 2013, I had the opportunity to wear mine. Over 400 people came to celebrate with Girl Scouts of Nassau County as we celebrated our 100 th Anniversary Gala , including our Girl Scouts of the USA CEO, Anna Maria Chavez.   There was not a dry eye in the room after honoree George Santiago, Jr. shared the story of how scouting has impacted his life.     20...
