Dear Girl Scout Volunteer; Without you, a GSNC Volunteer, the lives of many girls in our community would be missing a vital connection. Their connection to one another, to their community, to their current friends and friends they have yet to make, and their connection to you. Because you do what you do as a Mom, Dad, Aunt, Grandparent, Friend and Girl Scout Volunteer, girls’ lives are impacted in the most positive way. Every badge or award, every event, every Girl Scout meeting, every recitation of the Promise & Law, every little thing you do…makes a positive impact that is priceless to the girls you lead and support.  So…. Because The Girl By Mimi Murray, a GSUSA National Operational Volunteer Because the girl has a need, we have an obligation. Because the girl has a choice, we must be her better choice. Because the girl has high expectations, we must excel. Because the girl wants to explore, we must be her guide. Because the girl wants to bel...

Ways to Say "Thank You"

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! Showing appreciation for volunteers is a MUST. After all, our volunteers are ah-mazing and should be reminded of it not just this month, but every month! They do it all for the girls and often work extra hours on top of busy schedules and hectic lives. We love them for it and, well, Girl Scouting wouldn’t be the same without them. Let’s be sure to shout it from the Girl Scout rooftops! We know that everyday little things to show appreciation can go a super-long way. So with your help, GSUSA compiled this list of fun and clever ways to say “Thank You.” 1. Send a homemade card 2. Have a party 3. Nominate your Leader for a GSUSA adult recognition 10. Give a gift certificate 11. Write a poem or song 12. Make an audio or video rec...

Great Ways to Say Thank You!

Showing your appreciation and thankfulness for your Girl Scout Volunteers is important, because without them, you and your daughter’s Girl Scouting experience would not be possible. These volunteers provide a fun and unique experience, which will help turn our girls into the leaders of tomorrow. So, what are some fun and unique ways we can say “thank you” other than just saying those two word…“thank you”? Try some of these great ideas Bake them something ...other than cookies because let’s face it we all have tons of cookies in our homes. Cakes and cupcakes are great because girls can do their own decorating and put a message on top for their Girl Scout Leader... baking also allows your Girl Scout to work towards some more badges. Hand-make a “Thank You” Card … Making a card will allow your ...

Did you know that April 22 is Girl Scout Leader and Volunteer Appreciation Day? Well... It is! This is the time of the year when Girl Scouts say "Thank You" to volunteers that give their time and share their skills through the Girl Scouting Movement. So, for all you do for Girl Scouting, we thank you!  This past weekend, GSNC held the annual Adult Recognitions  Ceremony where we recognized volunteers who were nominated by their Girl Scouts or fellow volunteers for going above and beyond. Terri DellaVecchia was honored for 70 years of volunteer service and membership to Girl Scouts and Ethel Carlson was honored for 50 years of volunteer service to Girl Scouting. Girl Scouting would not exist without volunteerism and the conviction that one’s leadership will positively impact the girls that are mentored and they in turn, will take action to make the world a better place.  We are humbled by the passion of women like Terri and Ethel; both wives, mothers, grandmother...
