Congratulations to all our Robotic Teams!

Thanks to our coaches and mentors, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s robotics teams had a fantastic year! We thank them all for their dedication and for the example they set for the girls. Here are the results of our 2017 – 2018 season: FIRST® LEGO League Junior (Jr. FLL) 6-9 years old: The Magical Bots and The Sassy Hot Dogs attended the SBPLI’s FLL Jr. EXPO, where the girls showcased their LEGO robot design and research. The Magical Bots were awarded the OUTSTANDING TEAMWORK AWARD and The Sassy Hot Dogs were awarded the JOURNEY Award! FIRST® LEGO League (FLL) 9-14 years old: Our five teams this season were the LEGO Lovelies, Smart Cookies, Soaring Rockettes, Tech Time Girls and The Dream Stream Robotics Team! The teams competed in the School Business Partnership of Long Island’s (SBPLI. Inc.) FLL Qualifying Tournaments, where they showcased their LEGO robot design, research and invention. With much gratitude, we thank the coaches & mentors for their dedication and for the example they set for the girls. Because of them, the girls had another wonderful season!  Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr. FLL) 6-9 years old: EIGHT teams represented GSNC at the 2/28/15 School Business Partnership of LI’s (SBPLI) Jr. FLL EXPO where the girls showcased their LEGO robot design and their research. GSNC Robotics Results

  FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Results Congrats to all of the high school robotics teams from Long Island that competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifier at Syosset High on March 1, 2014. There were two and ½ Girl Scout teams, the Icebreakers and LEGOtronettes, and the Bot Masters who are a Girl Scout/Boy Scout team.  The Icebreakers made it to the Semi-finals for the Alliance Round and they chose LEGOtronettes and The Bot Masters to be part of their Alliance team. The girls & boys showed each other what ‘scouting’ is all about as they competed together! In the end, the Icebreakers won the ‘ Inspire Award’ , and the Bot Masters won the ‘ Motivate Award’ .  The Icebreakers and the LEGOtronettes have both qualified to compete at the 2014 NYU/LI FTC Championship Tournament in NYC. Girl Scouts Participate in FLL and FTC

Congratulations to Girl S couts of Nassau County's FLL and FTC Teams on their Successful 2013 Robotics Season! It’s that time of the year…. our Robotics season has come to a close.  But there is no reason to be sad, because Girl Scouts of Nassau County gets to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our Robotics Teams and look towards the future of Robotics in Nassau County.  We have the opportunity to share the world of STEM with many new faces and young minds.  All of our FLL and FTC teams, with help from their coaches and mentors, had an amazing season!  GSNC FLL Teams Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s seven FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams, competed in the Student Business Partnership of Long Island's (SBPLI) 9th Annual FLL Qualifying Tournament. Invention Convention Spurs Imagination and Creativity

GSNC's 2013 Invention Convention Encourages Girl Scouts to Think Outside the Box (or Maybe with it!) As They Create Objects Out of Recycled Materials. Brownies Show Off the Chair They Created Last Friday night (February 22), a crowd of over 100 people gathered at the Cradle of Aviation Museum for Girl Scouts of Nassau County's first Invention Convention for Girl Scout Brownies. The girls came ready to DISCOVER more about the world around them, to CONNECT with other girls, the Museum and GSNC volunteers and staff on some cool ideas, and then to put those Discoveries and Connections together to TAKE ACTION by creating their own musical instrument and chair made from recycled materials. Girls also participated in an exercise where they designed and built a space station on Mars or the moon. GSNC’s 7 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Teams GSNC’s 7 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Teams Compete at the SBPLI, Inc. FIRST LEGO League Qualifier Tournament Who knew LEGOs could help change the world? Way cooler than a science class, LEGO Robotics gives girls the chance to understand, design and build their own fully-functioning robot.   On Saturday, February 2, 2013, Girl Scouts of Nassau County had 7 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams compete at the SBPLI, Inc. FIRST LEGO League Qualifier Tournament at Central Islip Senior High School.   As usual yesterday was a fun and exciting day at the tournament, with six of the seven GSNC teams moving on to the Championship Tournament in March.
