Informal ways to thank your Girl Scout Leader!

Adult volunteers make Girl Scouting happen! Our adult volunteers help Girl Scouts unleash their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader) and make events possible for all Girl Scouts. Acknowledging the efforts of others is an essential part of Girl Scouts. Acknowledgements can be informal and initiated by the girls, parents, co-leaders and Service Units. Some ideas may include: Recognition Certificate - A certificate may be given to a volunteer at a Service Unit Meeting in recognition of her/his interest in and support of Girl Scouts. Handicrafts - A mobile, flower arrangement, special ceramic plaque, scrapbook, sampler, poster, decoupage, ornament, bookmark, etc. Written Thank You - Send a brief note, poem, letter, special occasion card, scroll signed by members of the group, autograph book with signatures and comments, framed pictures of girls, or a yard sign with message “A Great Girl Scout Leader Lives Here.” Adult Recognitions Nomination - Ano...

Happy Father's Day to all of our Girl Scout Dads! Thank you for all you do to make our Girl Scout Experience possible. As we approach Father’s Day this Sunday, we would like to take a moment to honor and celebrate all fathers—especially the fathers and father figures who are involved behind the scenes right here in Nassau County! Through their dedication they exemplify our key values, contribute to the power of Girl Scouts, raise our future entrepreneurs, and teach the value of being a volunteer. Contributing to the Power of Girl Scouts Dads have contributed to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County in innumerable ways. Many men volunteer their time throughout the year to play a role in leading our specialty clubs, council events, troop activities, camping trips, and cookie sales. Through their support, our council has made so many wonderful memories! “It is fantastic to see how the robotics program helps the girls develop confidence and expand the way they think and their willi...

Dear Girl Scout Volunteer; Without you, a GSNC Volunteer, the lives of many girls in our community would be missing a vital connection. Their connection to one another, to their community, to their current friends and friends they have yet to make, and their connection to you. Because you do what you do as a Mom, Dad, Aunt, Grandparent, Friend and Girl Scout Volunteer, girls’ lives are impacted in the most positive way. Every badge or award, every event, every Girl Scout meeting, every recitation of the Promise & Law, every little thing you do…makes a positive impact that is priceless to the girls you lead and support.  So…. Because The Girl By Mimi Murray, a GSUSA National Operational Volunteer Because the girl has a need, we have an obligation. Because the girl has a choice, we must be her better choice. Because the girl has high expectations, we must excel. Because the girl wants to explore, we must be her guide. Because the girl wants to bel...

Ways to Say "Thank You"

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! Showing appreciation for volunteers is a MUST. After all, our volunteers are ah-mazing and should be reminded of it not just this month, but every month! They do it all for the girls and often work extra hours on top of busy schedules and hectic lives. We love them for it and, well, Girl Scouting wouldn’t be the same without them. Let’s be sure to shout it from the Girl Scout rooftops! We know that everyday little things to show appreciation can go a super-long way. So with your help, GSUSA compiled this list of fun and clever ways to say “Thank You.” 1. Send a homemade card 2. Have a party 3. Make a Troop memory book with each girl’s picture, favorite memory, etc. 4. Make a booklet of thank you pictures 5. Make a plaque 6. Call and say “Thank You!” 7. Give a plant 8. Send flowers 9. Nominate your Leader for a GSUSA adult recognition 10. Give a gift certificate 11. Write a poem or song 12. Make an audio or video rec...

Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day: April 22nd Thank you for creating a supportive environment where we can build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place! Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day is a day of recognition for adult volunteers in Girl Scouting. Although volunteers are always appreciated, it is during these special days that we take the time to acknowledge that our volunteers are the lifeblood of Girl Scouts of NassauCounty . Our Girl Scout volunteers make an enormous impact on the girls they mentor, motivate, and inspire.  They are the everyday heroes and guides who introduce girls to new life-changing experiences and help them discover their passions.  We encourage the girls, their families and Girl Scout communities to plan special gestures to show appreciation for the Girl Scout volunteers in their lives. Want to thank the special Girl Scout volunteer in your life, past or present, for being so amaz...
