A booth sale is when a Troop sets up a table or booth at a public location and displays and sells boxes of cookies directly to customers, allowing them to eat Girl Scout Cookies right away. Will you be my cookie valentine? With Valentine’s Day only a few days away, you’re probably wondering what to get your valentine. Well, with it being Girl Scout Cookie Season, we’re thinking about Valentine’s Day from a different perspective…. one that involves that tasty treat. Here are four ways to incorporate Girl Scout Cookies into your Valentine’s Day gift: 1.        Give the gift of cookies. Simply purchase a box or two or more of your valentine’s favorite Girl Scout Cookies, tie them up with a pretty bow and add a Girl Scout Cookie themed Valentine’s Day cards to your gift. 2.        Go DIY. As Girl Scouts, we always enjoy a good craft… so let’s get crafty. Make your own Valentine’s Day cards utilizing used Girl Scout Cookie Boxes. By: Isabella I, Troop 2185 Every year, I sell a lot of Girl Scout Cookies . The number one question I get is “how”? First, I look at the number of Cookies I sold the previous year. Then I add to that number, and that creates my goal. During Cookie season I dedicate all my free time to selling. I wear Cookie costumes. They aren’t only a cute sales tactic, but an extra layer of warmth. I ask everyone that passes if they would like to buy Cookies or make a donation. Selling takes a lot of dedication and perseverance not only because of the freezing temperatures, but because a lot of people say “no” when they are asked. Being able to accept rejection is a skill that I have learned through the Cookie Program. Another skill I have become a pro at is staying warm in freezing temperatures. As Girl Scouts of Nassau County closes out 2016, we look forward to 2017 and give thanks for the time and work of our volunteers who are the mainstay of Girl Scouting!   This past year we celebrated the 100 th Anniversary of the Girl Scout Gold Award with an extra fancy Gold Award Ceremony for 101 recipients at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, with Captain Cynthia Robson, Gold Awardee and a professor at the Academy, as our keynote speaker.   In November we concluded our 100 th Anniversary Celebration with our Golden Flight to Leadership Conference that included noted women as keynote speakers and panelists.   Geared to both adults and older girls, the Conference provided information and inspiration on the skills and traits one needs to be a leader.
