Mags&Munchies is Back!

Mags&Munchies Program 2023
by Mona Naqvi, Director of Product Programs, Girl Scouts of Nassau County

You know about the Girl Scout Cookie Program, but do you know about GSNC’s Fall Product Program – Mags&Munchies? Like the Cookie Program, Mags&Munchies is a financial literacy program that allows girls to be entrepreneurs, offering family and friends the opportunity to purchase delicious nuts, snacks, chocolates, magazines, and more—right in time for the holiday season!

This skill-building program supports our community’s youngest female entrepreneurs as they continue to make meaningful contributions to their communities and develop the tools to become leaders. Girl Scouts practice the five key entrepreneurial leadership skills—Goal Setting, Decision Making, People Skills, Money Management, and Business Ethics—before the Girl Scout Cookie season begins.

Not only is Mags&Munchies easy and fun, but girls also have the opportunity to earn magical rewards and personalized patches, while the troop earns proceeds for future adventures - 13% to 18% of total sales.

Review the important dates and check out the information below to ensure your Girl Scouts have a great Mags&Munchies season!

Tips for a successful Mags&Munchies season

  • Join GSNC’s Online Community (OLC) to get access to the 2023 Troop Mags&Munchies Manager Dashboard. The Dashboard is your one-stop shop for everything you will need this Mags&Munchies season. If you need help logging in, please email customercare@gsnc.org.

  • Make sure that your Troop Leader and Troop Co-leader complete the online ACH Debit Authorization Form - this needs to be completed separately by both volunteers. This will allow council to sweep your troop bank account for the amount due at the end of the Mags&Munchies program on November 15.

By October 6, if the Troop Mags&Munchies Manager completes the online Troop Mags&Munchies Manager Agreement Form, and the Troop Leader and Co-Leader complete the online ACH Debit Authorization Form, the Troop will earn the Mags&Munchies Troop Bonus - a $10.00 coupon for the troop for the GSNC Shop and a GSNC special patch for girls with at least one online order on the M2 system by October 6th, 11:59 P.M.

Troop Goal Setting

To further understand the life and entrepreneurial skills Girl Scouts develop through the product sale, hold a meeting to discuss goal setting! Let each girl have input to help determine what the troop’s goals should be and figure out how many products need to be sold to reach those goals. Discuss the proceeds the troop has the potential to earn and set spend/save/share goals. Have each girl write down the troop goals along with their personal goals.

Help the troop brainstorm the types of things they want to do and the experiences they want to have for the rest of the Girl Scout year. Also, work with the girls to create a vision board, help them determine what it would take for the troop to reach their goals, and figure out the best way to track your troop’s progress. And don’t forget to save some money for the start of next year!
