2013 Operation Cookie Send-off

Girl Scouts Are Proud to Take Part in Girl Scouts of Nassau County's 2013 Operation Cookie Send-off Event, Where Tens of Thousands of Boxes of Cookies Begin Shipment to Military Personnel Serving Overseas .

Over the past 8 years, Girl Scouts of Nassau County(GSNC) with the help from DHL has shipped over 300,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies® to our servicemen and women in Bahrain, Afghanistan and surrounding areas.  These Girl Scout Cookies® come from community members who purchase cookies for our Troops rather than for themselves through our program, Operation Cookie.

Last Thursday, March 28, 2013, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, in partnership with DHL, hosted their annual Operation Cookie Send-off, where GSNC and local media, police and government officials waved good-bye and wished safe travels to the first major shipment of Girl Scout Cookies® which would be transported to military bases overseas.  These cookies were donated with the intentions of sending a taste of home to those serving for our country.

As a Girl Scout, I am proud of the work that other Girl Scouts put forth towards Operation Cookie. As a person who has had friends on the receiving end of Operation Cookie, I am thankful for those Girl Scouts and for all those who have made the Operation Cookie Program a success.  I know firsthand the excitement over receiving even just one box of Girl Scout Cookies® (which is very costly to ship as an individual person, thanks to DHL for donating their international shipping for all of our Operation Cookie).

Please remember, there is still time to donate to Operation Cookie! Simply buy boxes of Girl Scout Cookies® from your local Girl Scouts and mark them as ‘Operation Cookie’.  If you can’t find a Girl Scout who is selling Girl Scout Cookies, donate directly to Operation Cookie.
